Ever since Galileo pointed a telescope at the sky in the summer of 1623, astronomers have striven to design instruments that allow us to go further and further in our understanding of the cosmos. A larger telescope is able to capture more light, and therefore, to reach further. In this talk we will review some of the telescopes that are giving scientists the most joy in recent times. All this spiced up with a little bit of good old copla (Spanish folk song).
