Science occasionally captures the public imagination. Few people get worked up about the discovery of the Higgs Boson, looking into the face of the Big Bang generates a little more interest, but ask a child of ten years of age what killed off the dinosaurs and the answer will come back instantly: “a meteorite”. This is one of those scientific things that everybody knows, including Hollywood filmmakers. Except that it may not be true. Maybe it was not an asteroid, but volcanoes. The debate is still going on.
