Assembling some of the greatest young Jamaican jazz musicians, many from the famous Alpha Boys School, the Skatalites were the ultimate emissaries of the early 60s ska beat. They were bedrock of ska music – both as top session musicians and as live performers. Today a new generation of top musicians carry on the original Skatalites name and bring the uptempo ska rhythm to a new audience. Back at Rototom for the first time since 2018, their mix of blazing horns and furious driving rhythms is as potent as when ska began.
