Joel Stewart joined Greenpeace in 1989 as the captain of the second Rainbow Warrior. Before Greenpeace, Joel worked on commercial vessels in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Joel has been committed to, and on the front lines of environmental protection and climate action for over 32 years. Joel’s work with Greenpeace and his amazing crew has been an adventure of overcoming challenges and prevailing in difficult situations. Working with exceptional crew and colleagues in Greenpeace has been an honor and an inspiration.
