Few Rastafarian reggae harmony groups are as well-loved as Jamaica’s Israel Vibration. Albert “Apple Gabriel” Craig, Cecil “Skelly” Spence and Lascelle “Wiss” Bulgin met as patients at Mona Rehabilitation Centre in Kingston while suffering from childhood polio. Their unique vibrato, known as “bionic harmonies”, soon made them a popular trio in Jamaica, articulating their Rastafarian faith on immortal hits such as Same Song, Why Worry, and later Rubeboy Shufflin’. Gabriel left in 1997 but Skelly and Wiss still tour today, backed by old friends and fellow legends the Roots Radics band, led by Errol “Flabba” Holt.
