Ayo Shonaiya

Ayo Shonaiya is a filmmaker and lawyer. He has been in the entertainment industry for over 30 years, as an artist manager, film and television producer, Concert producer, talent agent, consultant, music executive and entertainment lawyer, all in the UK, USA and Nigeria. His former protégés and clients include D’banj and Don Jazzy, Eldee the Don, K1 the Ultimate and global music star Akon. Ayo Shonaiya is the CEO and founder of the media company R70, set up in 1996 to produce independent African films in the UK. As a filmmaker, he has produced 4 feature films and 2 music documentaries, including the critically acclaimed Afrobeats The Backstory on Netflix. Ayo Shonaiya is one of the most respected figures in the entertainment industry in Nigeria, where he is often said to have made his mark on the successful careers of many Nigerian artists of the past 25 years. Ayo Shonaiya is currently producing the second season of his documentary Afrobeats for Netflix.
