Discovery Lab

Discovery Lab comes to Rototom from CERN, one of the most important international scientific research centers in the world, to propose a journey of human knowledge, from the Big Bang in the remote past to the future of artificial intelligence.

CERN has been promoting this initiative in other European countries for six years with its ‘Festival Programme’, a collaboration between the research center, a festival and collaborating institutes in the host country that seeks to reach new non-scientific audiences in music and cultural events. This group of collaborators, also made up of other partners who already produce scientific pavilions at music festivals in other European countries, is known as The Big Bang Collective.

A leap that has been made possible thanks to the commitment of the CERN and the coordinator of its ‘Festival Programme’, Connie Potter, and the implication, from Spain, of the Institute of Corpuscular Physics (IFIC) of CSIC and the University of Valencia -Alberto Aparici, who is in charge of dissemination and outreach; and the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM) of the CSICthrough its spokesperson and researcher Iván López; and the University of La Riojafrom where the professor, mathematician and presenter of programs such as Laika Orbit of TVE, Eduardo Sáenz de Cabezón.

The activity at Discovery Lab will be concentrated in the second half of the afternoon each day.The activities take place in different formats, from Workshops with full public interaction to Talks and Shows, all with a scientific theme as the central idea and following an agile dynamic, each proposal lasting 45 minutes.
