Known in Jamaica as the mellow canary, Barrington Levy’s remarkably mellifluous voice has made him a hit maker in both reggae and dancehall. After beginning his career as a young vocalist in the Channel One studio for Junjo Lawes, Levy was able to continue his momentum in the mid-1980s with two Jah Screw-produced hits, Under Mi Sensi and Here I Come. These examples of the more uptempo dancehall pure singjay style made him one of the most successful Jamaican vocalists of all time. Barrington, who is still in top form and owns his own radio station, Roses FM, in his home parish of Clarendon, continues to tour the world with his huge catalog of hits. After thrilling audiences in Benicassim in 2012 and 2015, a triumphant Rototom reunion awaits in 2023.
