The Power of Utopia’ is the motto that will run through our 29th edition in Benicàssim, from August 16 to 21, 2024.

A motto that cuts across the entire cultural agenda that we promote every summer, such as the Social Forum or our open-air art museum Social Art Gallery. The Power of Utopia’ is an invitation to rethink the future proactively, a goal to aspire to with commitment and dedication, and a hymn to hope.

Given that here, in Benicàssim, the international community that unites around Rototom Sunsplash from different corners of the planet, to share the same philosophy of life wrapped in the values of peace, respect, solidarity and sustainability, are already making their little utopia a reality, demonstrating that another world is possible, why continue to think that living in a dystopia is already inevitable?

Reclaiming the power of utopia seems more necessary than ever. at a time when the economic crisis that permeates daily life, the devastation of wars that sow hatred in future generations or the climate emergency that is pushing the planet and its biodiversity to the extreme, seem to be leading to this seemingly inevitable dystopia. A destiny that we will try to redirect from collective proactivity and jumping from the abstract plane of utopia to the palpable, empowering dialogue, listening and participation as stimuli to recover the future.

‘The Power of Utopia’ reminds us that there is still time to change course. After all, the great changes in humanity came about because someone, before others, had the courage to imagine them. So let’s get down to it. We are going to walk until we reach that utopian horizon that is dreamed of, but possible. Chatting, drawing, dancing, imagining and building.
