The International Dub Gathering (IDG) chooses the prelude to summer for a new landing in the small town of L’Aldea, Tarragona. The most prominent dub festival in Southern Europe will celebrate its seventh edition on June 20, 21 and 22, 2024. A change of dates that nevertheless passes on the same stage, given the great reception that has among the public this staging at the gateway to the natural park of the Ebro Delta. Thus, for the third consecutive year, the macro-event sponsored by the international reggae festival Rototom Sunsplash in Benicàssim, will deploy for three days a line-up with more than 60 artists that will parade day and night through the facilities of the Masía Pla dels Catalans, of 45,000 square meters.
An artistic proposal that, in the same line as in previous editions, maintains a wide variety of artists that encourage the eclecticism of genres, which shields an experience that transcends borders and unites lovers of Sound System and bass music. This edition also features several special shows that can only be enjoyed at the festival.
This is the case of the French duo L’Entourloop, whose eclectic mix of dub, hip-hop and reggae fills the stage with a contagious energy. IDG 2024 will be a unique opportunity to vibrate with his exclusive show in Sound System format.
As if that were not enough, and after years without them coming to the festival, the music of Iseo & Dodosound will also be present and, like l’Entourloop, in a different format. Although it is usual to see the Navarrese band on stage with their band, at IDG the public will enjoy them much closer with a unique Sound System show in the peninsula during the whole season.
Deep Medi Musik, the esteemed record label synonymous with innovative dubstep and bass music, brings its unparalleled expertise to the forefront with a showcase of talent that pushes the boundaries of sonic exploration with a very special takeover. In addition, the unmistakable Benny Page, returns to the festival two years later to prove that he is still one of the main references of the junglist in the UK.
The most recognizable names in the national and international scene are not lacking in the dub festival of reference in Europe. This time around, the IDG lineup pays homage to the roots of dub music with performances by legends such as Dub Judah and Mafia & Fluxy, whose pioneering contributions have shaped the modern dub music scene.
Iration Steppas and O.B.F., already part of the IDG family and always at the forefront, will be visiting us again from England. Alpha Steppa returns with the incredible and deep voice of Ras Tinny but this time accompanied by the highly recognized Alpha & Omega(Dub Dynasty), who will perform a very special show for IDG 2024 that no dub music lover will want to miss.
Continuing with the sound system branch of the festival, you can also enjoy the 20th anniversary of Bababoom HiFi, sound system reference in Italy for decades, and also bring their equipment to sound one of the areas of the festival. Teachings in Dub, a reference collective in England, bring a show prepared in the purest UK style with very special guests such as Dubkasm or Empress Shema.
The programming is also focused on the new talents and proposals that are emerging, and here emerge the performances of Biga Ranx with Supa Mana, Tetra Hydro K, Alvva or the mediatic 10,000 Lions, who return to bring their show from Goa, India.
From the peninsula, Chalart58, one of the most respected producers of the scene, whose name is linked to musicians like Manu Chao or Fermin Muguruza, will offer a show with Matah and Adala, two of the most listened voices of reggae in the territory for a long time. Local talent brings a unique perspective to the festival, ensuring an experience as diverse as it is unforgettable.
Of course, there is no shortage of spectacular Sound Systems, which will be amplifying the shows of all the artistic proposals. For lovers of low frequencies, it will be a marvel to hear, among others, the unique and incomparable Sinai sound system from UK, or Bababoom Hifi from Italy, as well as the resident Greenlight Sound System from Barcelona.
