This space for learning about Jamaican culture that enhances the festival’s daytime agenda will also explore the different forms of dub poetry, the global rise of Afrobeats and the importance of Rastafari both inside and outside Jamaica.
This Thursday, August 17, the festival will travel from the Africa of Tiken Jah Fakoly, homeland of reggae, to the purifying fire of Capleton, through the unique voice of Barrington Levy and the beginnings of the English sound of Cimarons.
The universality of the genre expands with the French Biga Ranx, the Argentinian Miss Bolivia and the Italian band Train To Roots, while the Dub Academy brings out the powerful return of Iration Steppas and the Jamkunda Stage presents its first Afrobrunch.
The festival activates its more social and environmental profile with the premiere of the agenda of debates and talks at the Social Forum, Jamkunda and Pachamama.
More than 200 companies, 70% local and provincial profile, and a team of 74 professionals, make possible the shooting of the cultural event, with six stages that innovate in scenography and six extra-musical areas.

The festival closes this Tuesday, August 22, with concerts by UB40 and the premiere of ‘The Flamenco World Salutes Bob Marley’, a line-up that includes 190 artists from 25 countries over seven days.
The programming of the extra-musical areas consolidates Rototom Sunsplash as an experience to be enjoyed also during the day and with the family, with more than 140 activities including debates, talks, screenings, workshops, exhibitions or Afro, urban or dancehall dance sessions.
This Friday, August 18, also brings together two representatives of the contemporary African sound: Afrobeats queen Yemi Alade and the band Gultrah Sound System, together with Protoje, an exponent of the new wave of Jamaican music.
Francesco Vignarca, coordinator of the Italian Disarmament Network; journalist and writer Teresa Aranguren; and Tica Font, researcher in peace studies, will lead the session ‘Who defends peace’ at the Social Forum.
Joining the musical journey of this premiere of the ‘United for Peace’ edition are the vibes of the legendary Don Carlos and the new global female reggae music of Lila Iké, Hollie Cook and Jaz Elise, amongst many other names.
