In the ‘United for Peace’ edition Rototom Sunsplash steeps itself in the seven colors of peace

In the edition ‘United for Peace’, the Rototom Sunsplash steeps itself in the colors of peace. The entire scenography chosen to project the 2023 theme, from the renovated accesses to the concert venue to the Main Stage or the iconic peace symbol that is displayed every summer on the festival’s central axis, is dyed with the seven rainbow lines that are the colors of the official peace flag.

Seven brushstrokes to say yes to peace and no to war. And to build bridges between all mankind, like the rainbow over which they span, a symbol of harmony between earth and sky.

Because the flag with the rainbow colors as a symbol of peace has been used internationally in many pacifist marches and against wars. Movements in favor of peace that we join from the festival and that we want to present in an energetic way to be able to share them with our public. International. Intercultural. Diverse.

The flag of peace with the colors of the rainbow has Inca origins. Apparently, this civilization was the first to paint the rainbow on a flag. A gesture also made by the Native Americans. In 1900, the rainbow flag became the banner of peace movements.

This was the case for example in Italy, where this flag was institutionalized in 1961, at the first Perugia-Assisi peace march, inspired by all those multicolored flags used in different previous demonstrations against nuclear weapons.

Its use has crossed borders, reaching different countries, which have included the word ‘peace’ on the flag in their respective languages.

That word: ‘peace’. That today we proclaim stronger than ever, from the ‘United for Peace’ edition of the Rototom Sunsplash.
