Rototom Sunsplash and its Cultural Association Exodus once again bring the essence of the international reggae festival to the prison population of the Castellón II penitentiary center, in Albocàsser, with a new collaborative activity that fuses art and music.
From the hand, and creativity, of two graffiti artists, Rudiart and Jotalo, since this week the prison walls have begun to fill with color and strokes with the XXL mural (3.5 meters high by 18 meters long) to which both artists will give shape in the coming days.
“The aim of the mural is to brighten up the center’s spaces and mark the festival’s commitment to the internal population and to the people who work to help them on a daily basis,” they say from Rototom Sunsplash.
The graffiti artist from Alicante Rudiart is a regular collaborator of the festival, in spaces such as the Dance Hall area. He was the winner of the National Graffiti League in 2023, which had the prize of exporting his work to the New York City borough of Brooklyn.
Meanwhile, the Murcian artist José Javier López, better known as Jotalo, has designed the cover of ‘Inkebrantable’, the latest album by the Sevillian rap duo SFDK, who will perform on the Main Stage of the Rototom Sunsplash on Sunday, August 18, 2024.
This new collaboration with the inmate population of Castellón II promoted by the reggae festival has been possible thanks to the work of the Social Education department and the direct involvement of the Subdirectorate of Treatment of the Albocàsser penitentiary center.
