The biggest reggae festival in Europe continues adding, musically speaking. And it does so with an eye on the Main Stage, where Morodo, an exponent of reggae in Spain, will land tonight.
Madrid-born, he will jump to the front line of Rototom Sunsplash from 23.25 hours. He is, after Chambao, the second of the national artists to perform at the Main Stage of the festival this year and the first of the genre who has managed to be internationally recognized. Morodo returns to Benicàssim to present his new album, Reggae Ambassador.
Also, Clinton Fearon (ex Gladiators), will be this tuesday on the Main Stage. He will also participate in a session of the Reggae University, where he will show the height of roots reggae and expose the complicated history of Gladiators (formation to which he belonged during nearly two decades) and his current solo career.
Another interesting musical offer for the day is Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars, a musical project formed by a group of refugees who left Sierra Leone to go to the countryside of Guinea fleeing civil war in their country, where they formed the band. The core of their sound is a West African rhythm called baskeda which resembles the reggae sound of Studio One by artists like Burning Spear or the Heptones, albeit with an African touch.
