The Rototom Sunsplash won’t miss its date with the Internacional Dub Gathering (IDG) and we are already on our way to Barcelona to enjoy, as a part of its collaboration in this macro event, the best of the European dub scene. The Illa Fantasia (Fantasy Island) is where it’s at –between Premià de Dalt and Vilassar de Dalt- April 14 to 16.
IDG has succeeded in its second year to bring together the biggest names on the international dub scene, breaking boarders with countries like Japan, United States and Jamaica, and combining the precursors of dub from the 70s and 80s, King Jammys, Mad Professor and Zion Train, with some of the most important artists, producers and sound systems on the contemporary reggae-dub scene such as Iration Steppas, Stand High Patrol, Panda Dub and OBF. Another of the artists that stands out this year is Fermín Muguruza who will present, together with Chalart 58 his most recent project Black is Beltza (Kasba Music, 2017) live.
The sound system presence –with nine, from around the continent- is another of the festival’s major attractions that also broadens its programme to offer extramusical activities: conferences, spaces for children like Little Sound Kids, clowns and circus.
We’re off to Barcelona!
