Big Youth, the pioneer of deejay style with his codemark of three precious stones (red, gold & green) set in his teeth. Big Youth was one of the first artists to show his dreadlocks in public and to actively introduce Rastafari in his lyrical hooks even before the big success of Bob Marley.
Armed with great technique and a masively versatile talent this deejay had an impressive series of hits for producers like Phil Pratt, Gregory Isaacs, Prince Buster, Keith the Hudson, Yabby You or the Abyssinians; as a solo artist and with various labels. Big Youth represents a crucial step in the long journey which stems back to the likes of U Roy and includes modern deejays like Beenie Man or Bounty Killer.
