20 March 2017
The show Inna de Yard unites several generations of Jamaican musicians and artists on the one stage this August in Benicassim
Here we have a show that is capable of taking audiences to the deepest roots and vibes of ‘roots reggae’ of the seventies thanks to the collective of artists and musicians of Inna de Yard, a project that was founded in Kingston in 2004 on the terrace of the guitarist Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith and since then has led to the recording of different acoustic works (released by the French label, Makasound).
This March marks the beginning of a new series of Inna de Yard, with the release of the album The Soul of Jamaica (Chapter Two Records), which will be presented to audiences in an international tour that will visit Benicassim this summer.
Main Stage will revive the most enjoyable and intense experiences in Jamaican music, with songs meant for open spaces, far from recording studios and digital equipment, basking in simplicity with the personal touch, boasting quality acoustics, pure voices and intense energy. Songs created in what could be called a spiritual manner, “at that precious moment in which, the meeting of musicians, creates music” and which covers everything from 60s and 70s roots reggae to original tracks for the next generation of artists from the Caribbean Island.
On stage will be Cedric Myton (one of voices of The Congos); the singer and musician Kiddus I, known for his role in Rockers (the mythical 70s reggae film); we will also get the chance to enjoy the unique style of the singer songwriter Winston McNuff. Completing the line-up are Kush, the percussionist and leader of Uprising Roots; the singer and also percussionist Derajah; the guitarist Boo Pee, member of bands like Aggrovators and Taxi Gang; the pianist Robbie Lyn; the percussionist Fonso and the bass player Rice.
