Óscar Camps, president of the NGO Proactiva Open Arms; Paula Farias, coordinator of Médicos Sin Fronteras Mediterranean project; and Yonous Muhammadi, president of the Greek Forum of Refugees will analyse the drastic situation in which millions of people find themselves day on a daily basis.
The noncompliance with the right to asylum of the European Union, the violation of fundamental rights, the complete failure of migration policies and the lack of any real solutions to the terrible situation in which millions of people find themselves on a daily basis, obliged to leave everything behind and flee their homes to escape war and death. These are some of the issues that we will address this year’s Social Forum debate: “Refugees without refuge”.
Óscar Camps, president of Proactiva Open Arms, -the only NGO in the Aegean Sea, given that the other organizations assist refugees on land-; the expresident of Médicos Sin Fronteras and coordinator of the MSF Mediterranean project Paula Farias; and Yonous Muhammadi, president of the Greek Forum of Refugees, are the experts that are going to address this issue from different perspectives.
Furthermore, this year in solidarity with Médicos sin Fronteras, who in recent years have become a target of war and some of their hospitals have been bombed and destroyed, killing their staff and their patients. For this reason and to help them to continue their valuable work, we shall collaborate with them and their cause by donating part of the festival’s profits.
