The French Jahneration, the Cape Verdeans Rubera Roots and El Chamuyo from Castellon are some of the names that have joined the Showcase line-up that boasts an average of seven shows a day, which includes a space dedicated to ska.
With up to seven shows a day, the Showcase programme has just added the Londoners The Skints to the menu. Defined as “the modern torch bearers of British reggae”, The Skints will bring their mix of reggae, ska, dancehall, dub, punk rock and hip hop to Rototom Sunsplash. Also making an appearance will be the London artist with Jamaican roots Marla Brown, daughter of the mythical Dennis Brown; as well as the young singer, song writer Runkus (Jamaica), who will be accompanied by the Old Skl Bond.
Álex Bass, who has established himself as one of the top singjays in Barcelona, will come to Benicassim accompanied by The Same Song Bond; the mix of reggae and hip hop of the French Jahneration; as well as the fusion of African music with reggae with which the Cape Verdeans Rubera Roots transmit messages filled with social positivism, have all been confirmed.
When it comes to Spanish groups, of those already confirmed it is worth mentioning El Chamuyo from Castellon, Yeahmen from Alicante, Rebel Roots from Galicia, Koers from Lleida and Ganjahr Family & Atlantic Force Band (Vigo). This new wave of confirmations also includes the Italians The Misty Morning, Rootical Foundation, Attila, Sista Awa & The Eazy Skankers, Inna Cantina and Dadadub; DubMarta (Italy/UK); the French The Soulshiners and Païaka; the Colombians Alerta Kamarada and La Severa Matacera; the Chileans Tiano Bless and Shanti Powa Orchestra (Tyrol).
Added to the mix will be Almamegretta, Shanti (UK), the Valencian Auxili, the much televised Jaume Mas & WaGwaan Band-; Lion Sitte & The Wisehousecrew (Madrid); the Italian American trio the Uppertones and the Chileans Aflora.
Furthermore the ska shows this year have moved to the Showcase Stage, which will, each night, present live shows and sound systems dedicated to this genre.
