Our new Caribbean Uptempo area will combine pure Jamaican music with Latin rhythms with styles such as calypso and soca each night in Benicassim, August 12 to 19.
Each one of the DJs will select authentic vinyl jewels that will swing from reggae, rocksteady and ska, to calypso, cumbia, and other such Latin rhythms. All of which will be accompanied by a crew of resident DJ who will open and close the shows of the special guests.
The ‘Caribbean Uptempo Resident Crew’ will bring us artists the likes of the DJs from the historic club in Rome, Sally Brown, joining them, will be the likes of Nembokid Selcta, Fabio B & John (Rudie Pressure Boys) who personify the sounds of calypso, ska, rocksteady, early reggae, and reggae from the 70’s. Fulvio Cartacci, known as the ‘The King of cumbia’, will lay out tasty tunes. Joining them will be Toni Face (Liquidator Music-Madrid), specialist Ska DJ and one of the historical figures at the festival.
The selections of this area, rigorously faithful to 45rpm vinyl will be completed by two other biggies. Tony Massive (Massive International London), MC for Caribbean Uptempo and founder and creator of Massive International, and the legendary trumpeter Stefano Cecchi (Valencia), trumpeter of the new area.
During the festival’s 8 days, this space dedicated to the most Latin ska will also see many other DJs, selectas and crews from different countries around Europe. Among them will be artists such as the Sally Brown Rude Pub Crew, from Rome; Ruderoma, Le Capitaine & Intruder, Than You, Nuflotone DJs, 2Rud outta Cool Running Sound, Jamaican Memories, Swing A Ling, Coco Girl, Bologna Calibro 7 Pollici, Taska Sally Brown, Fabio B, Black Diamonds and DJ Ninette, as well as the live show by the group Recycle, from Valencia.
