In the Pachamama space at the Living Energy we want to raise awareness about the need to preserve and cultivate seeds o maintain local varieties that are being lost. As a result, this year we will host a new activity: a seed exchange counter will be open each evening, that will be run in collaboration with Madre Tierra and the Red de Permacultura del Sureste Ibérico.
This initiative will be open to people and collectives who want to bring their seeds to exchange with other growers. The objective is to be able to grow vegetables, cereals, fruits and pulses that fed humanity for centuries and that the poorly named “green revolution”, that started in the 60’s, are imposing hybrid and sterile seeds as a way of getting greater harvests.
The home growing of seeds is the only way of self-managing horticultural production, conserve and reproduce the genetic wealth of local varieties that guarantee the food sovereignty of communities. To do so, we invite you to bring your seeds to the Pachamama space, where you can exchange and share them so that we can offer the widest range of species possible.
