There is a heart that pumps blood continuously. Beats that mark a rhythm, a beat to the rhythm of reggae. To the rhythm of the Reggae for freedom. Eight days during which this heart has turned into a particular reggae city. A break from Babylon, a real Zion.
This engine has been constantly promoting a message of peace, solidarity and love during 23 editions. This engine is the Rototom Sunsplash. The international reggae festival says goodbye to an edition full of freedom and dreams, an edition that demonstrates once again that Rototom is much more than a music festival.
A heart nourished by the African Village, where the African percussion still echoes until the last day together with the desire to share this magical culture. The origin of everything. Mother Earth has also been the protagonist in this heart, where PachaMama has been the light for the connection of minds and bodies to meet and get to know this Mother Earth. The market also beats for the last time, which receives the last curious ones, as the food and beverage stands, that during these eight days have managed to show the crowd at Rototom different parts of the world through their flavours.
A constant pumping of blood through each of the stages of the festival, from the Main Stage to the Showcase, from the hypnotic speaker stacks of the Dub Academy to the dances in the Dancehall area.
When consciousness, dialogue, freedom and dignity are clustered in the Social Forum or knowledge and history in the Reggae University. Also the last walk through the ArteSano Market and the last night at the Roots Yard or in any of the European clubs which this year have landed at the festival.
This pumping also reaches families. Magico Mundo also becomes the perfect space for children and families. An area in which the little ones have laughed, learnt, played, dreamed and enjoyed a festival that knows how to adapt itself to everyone. And to the magic of the circus, with Rototom Circus as one of the protagonists in the evenings of the Rototom.
Eight days since Rototom opened its doors on August 13. The great final parade has already reached the Main Stage, the countdown begins.
Reggae, for Freedom.
