The International Dub Gathering starts the countdown for its third edition, landing for the first time in Bigastro (Alicante), after making the leap from Barcelona. Considered one of the largest gatherings of dub music and sound system culture in Europe (9,000 festivalgoers in 2017), the IDG with the endorsement of another benchmark in its genre, the Rototom Sunsplash festival, draws the aces of its deck on March 29 30 and 31,during Holy Week in the Carmen 24 venue of the town in Alicante. A new location equipped with indoor and outdoor spaces that allows the organization to increase the number of stages and services.
The musical aces of IDG 2018 fill its line-up, with names consecrated as Jah Shaka; Mafia & Fluxy with DJ Tubs, Twinkle Brothers, Adrian Sherwood and Iration Steppas among fifty artists confirmed. A first class line-up spread over the five stages of the venue and an extra-musical programme suitable for all audiences and that is determined not leave you a free minute during the three day festival (see full line-up). A programme dressed with the best offerings of international cuisine, from Mexico to Japan, complete a range of services to ensure a comfortable arrival and stay in Bigastro, all in addition to a bunch of new products with ‘green’ commitment: IDG will pioneer the implementation of the system ‘reverse vending’ to encourage recycling of plastic.
The three days of dub will be enriched with the offering of extra-musical activities, which will be led by conferences on music and dub culture in the Cultural Laboratory area. Among them, the one presented by Mafia & Fluxy on Saturday 31 March at 17.00, entitled ‘From Tottenham to Kingston: The story of Mafia & Fluxy‘, alongside given by King Siloh, Dub Judah and Nomadix.
