From the Caribbean coast of Colombia to the Mediterranean coast of Benicassim. The Barranquilla Carnival, one of the most representative cultural events of the Latin American country, will join in the fun of the new space at Rototom Sunplash, Caribbean Uptempo, on Saturday 19 August. Eight Colombian dancers will, led by Liliana Salinas (Los Compadres), share the essence of this unique carnival, considered Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. They will perform together with Sugark, DJ of the Trinidad and Tobago carnival and the Notting Hill carnival in London.
The festival will submerge you in a carnival atmosphere with this party that combines and represents the different artistic, musical and folkloric expressions from this part of Colombia. Masks, costumes that invoke native animals, mythology, colour, rhythm, popular dance and satire that parade each year in the Barranquilla Carnival, which this Summer brings its cultural wealth to Benicassim.
They will do so on stage at Caribbean Uptempo, the new space inspired by the spirit of the Notting Hill Carnival in London that will present its unique cocktail of ska, rocksteady, early reggae, calypso, mento, soca and cumbia, as well as other Latin rhythms, with a lineup headed by artists such as Tiny T, D’Oxman, Asher G+Naoko, Natty Bo, Gladdy Wax, Tighten Up Crew and Gaz Mayall.
