Ben Harper, Alborosie, Fat Freddy’s Drop and the Jamaican hat trick Jimmy Cliff, Protoje and Tarrus Riley, in this first round of names for Rototom 2018. With concert dates!
The 25th edition is going to be special. And with this challenge to the fore, today we announce the first names in our 2018 line-up. Thirteen artists with exclusive shows designed for this special Rototom anniversary, begin to fill the musical grid for our next date in Benicàssim: August 16 to 22.
Heading the list is the American genius Ben Harper. The Californian will perform for the first time at the festival on August 16. He will do so with his band, The Innocent Criminals, with a unique reggae repertoire unheard of in Europe. Special also will be the performance of Alborosie & Schengen Clan together with the memorable premiere at Rototom of the New Zealanders Fat Freddy’s Drop, which in Benicàssim, will perform their only concert in Spain.
This first batch of confirmations also offers three generations of Jamaican artists: Jimmy Cliff, Protoje & The Inddignation y Tarrus Riley accompanied by the virtuoso saxophonist Dean Frazer; as well as the giants of French reggae roots Danakil, The Uppertones and the Alpheus and Hollie Cook from the UK. Furthermore, Benicàssim will witness the meeting of two of the giants of Spanish reggae, Morodo and Green Valley, and also welcomes the Valencian band Auxili.
