Solé Rototom Beach has just been awarded the Valueable certification for its commitment to labour inclusion, becoming the first beach bar in the province of Castellon with this certificate. This accreditation implies the fulfillment of the goals of the European project ‘On My Own at Work’ (OMO Project), which seeks to promote the inclusion of people with Down syndrome/intellectual disability in the labour market through their employment in the hotel and catering sectors. OMO Project is financed by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ programme.
A person with Down syndrome has been part of the staff for the last two years at the Solé bar in the Gurugú beach, where he works as a cleaner and also helps in the kitchen, while learning languages (English) and taking on new responsibilities within the bar premises. In addition to opening up its workforce to people with different capabilities, Solé guarantees its non-employment discrimination, either during the selection, hiring, training, career development or salary phases. All this is accompanied by a process of increased awareness of the personnel to favour the labour integration of this group of people with intellectual disabilities.
