The Spanish reggae scene is a force to be reckoned with once again in Benicassim. Nearly 40% of the bands and artists performing on the Showcase Stage for the 23rd Rototom Sunsplash 2016 are Spanish. The Valencians Auxili; the singjay from Barelona Alex Bass; Koers, from Lleida, along with another 25 in total out of the 63 bands on the program.
A percentage that gives a Spanish accent to a stage that strings eight days of music together with emerging talents and established acts that will exhibit what there is on show ‘here’, from the Jamaican music scene.
Among the more than 20 Spanish names due to perform at Showcase, the name of the of the artist from Vallecas who descends from Equatorial Guinea Lion Sitté stands out, as he is considered the Standard bearer of Spanish reggae. Alongside him other artists heading the line-up are Ganjahr Family&Atlantic Force Band as well as other such groups like Rebel Roots from Galicia.
Major Valencian acts will also be performing at Showcase, with the five well placed music ambassadors that are the bands from Castellon El Chamuyo and Bandits; Auxili and Mediterranean Roots, from Valencia; and from Alicante the Yeahmen y Natural Groove Brothers.
Showcase strengthens its program this year by including shows from the Ska Club that will shine in the 23.30 to 02.15 slot each night.
