23 June 2017
The figure of Youssou NDOUR inspires this Sunday 25th June the first session of the project ‘Units x Africa’, which will include an African dance and masks workshop
Solé Rototom Beach offers again a new experience in its most African edition. Units x Africa is the cultural and emotional bond of two partner festivals: Rototom Sunsplash and Formigues Festival. The two meet for the first time in our beach bar thanks to this new project through which they want to present the African culture to the little ones. We will invite all families to discover the ethnic diversity of the continent during four sessions with four different guests to whom we will pay tribute through dance, music, literature and art.
The first session will take place on Sunday 25th at 19.00 at the Gurugú beach and will be inspired by the Senegalese singer Youssou NDOUR, 2017 headliner. It will include an African masks workshop (we will provide with the materials needed) and a dance session.
Next dates will be on 23th July, dedicated to the figure of the photographer Kevin Carter, where a tribal painting workshop will be held; on 27th August, when we will learn more about Nelson Mandela through African games and tales; and on 10th September, with the art of the turban as the central concept of a session inspired by the Somali model Iman.
