To address the complex conflict that has exploded in the Ukraine and to analyze the responses of international organizations from different countries to the main situations of war and emergency that devastate the planet, are the objectives of two of the debates to be held in the Social Forum during the next edition of Rototom Sunsplash.
Ukraine: Europe at war? Is the title of the conference that will close the Social Forum on August 22 at 17:00, in which will participate the political scientist and founding member of Podemos Juan Carlos Monedero, he will be accompanied by the Italian politician and journalist Giulietto Chiesa, known for his correspondent work in countries such as Russia and the UK, and the Ukrainian freelance journalist Oleg Yasinski, collaborator of the international press agency Pressenza, specialized in peace, non-violence and human rights.
This round table will discuss the interests at play and the geo-political strategies that sustain the conflict in the Ukraine that has gone from being an internal conflict into a veiled war in the heart of Europe.
On Monday August 17 the Social Forum will host the debate We take action against wars (17:00), in which the president of the Italian association Emergency, Cecilia Strada, the RTVE journalist Cristina Sánchez, and Iván Prado, the president of Pallasos en Rebeldía, will analyze how to respond to situations of war and violent conflict, from the perspectives of humanitarian aid, media coverage, and socially committed humour respectively.
