Farmer: He spends most of his time in organic agriculture and livestock farming. He has planted approximately one tree for every day he has lived, some 26,500. He is also involved in writing, radio, documentary films, lectures and exhibitions. He has been involved in ecological and cultural activism for 50 years. He is member of some 34 NGOs. He was founder and president of some of them. He collects his own resignations.

Joaquin is writing his 116th and 117th books as sole author. He has also published 12 as co-author and 93 collectives. All of them are accompanied by 8 encyclopaedias which he directed and, in part, wrote. His 2,516 articles have been published in 147 magazines, 19 blogs and 17 newspapers. He currently writes frequently for five blogs and two magazines. Curator of 31 exhibitions and author of the texts of almost all of them. Scriptwriter and/or director of 340 TV programmes, mostly documentaries, he has made some 5,600 radio programmes, almost all of them with his own sections. He also directed some of them.

In both radio and television, he made the first live nature programmes in the history of these media in Spain. He has given some 2,600 lectures both in Spain and in a dozen other countries. He has won many awards. Of the 49 he has received, the following stand out: the UN GLOBAL 500, considered the most important in the world in his field; the Wilderness Writing (there are only five winners in the world); the BBVA award for the dissemination of the multiplicity of life, which is the most important in Spain.

He is the only Spaniard to have been awarded the National Environment Prize twice. Nominated for the Oscars and the Goya Awards for his participation in Nómadas del Viento. He is a member of the Real Academia de las Letras y de las Artes (Royal Academy of Arts) and has been awarded the Gold Medal of Extremadura.

A secondary school, a reservoir, a workshop, a cocktail party, two monumental trees, a fountain, a peak and a museum have all been named after him.

Above all, he intends, although it is surely impossible, to save what saves us: NATURE.
