Barrington Levy

Known in Jamaica as “the mellow canary” Barrington Levy’s remarkable mellifluous voice has made him a hit maker in both reggae and dancehall. Starting his career as a youth voicing at Channel One studio for Junjo Lawes, Levy was able to continue his momentum in the mid 80s with two Jah Screw produced smashes, Under Mi Sensi and Here I Come. These examples of the more uptempo dancehall “pure singjay” style made him one of the most successful Jamaican vocalists of all time. Still in fine voice, and the owner of his own radio station, Roses FM in his home parish of Clarendon, Barrington still tours the world with his enormous catalogue of hits. Having already hyped the crowds at Benicassim in 2012 and 2015, he is due for a triumphant Rototom reunion in 2022.
