The first hour of the afternoon of the 5th day of Rototom Sunsplash in the #WalkingTogether edition. Daily activities resumed some hours ago. Pachamama, African Village, The Social Forum, the Reggae University, Mercado ArteSano… Each of these areas begin to awaken another day more, yet this afternoon they had a very special visit.45 children from 5 to 12 years old came through the Rototom entrance for the first time. It’s the summer school of Torresport.
But, what does Rototom have to become one of the options of the kids summer school? Making the most of the time they had until the last hours, the first stop was clear; MagicoMundo, the area dedicated to kids and families attending the festical. Here they look forward to a fancy dress workshop, crafts, games and storytelling. At the roof of the world with Pandora Mirabilia, a project of children’s audio books where the protagonists are invisible women from history.
MagicoMundo’s program continues to grow a Rototom especially for younger kids. A meeting point for kids to learn about the values and philosophy of the festival through workshops, activities, sows and exhibitions especially designed with them in mind.
Their next stop wasn’t far away, just next to MagicoMundo is RototomCircus, the festival’s circus school. When African Village started to vibrate, when the percussion could be hear and it was the moment to dance, they could get to know a little more about the one of the key areas of Rototom, its area dedicated to Africa.
Finally, they smiled at having discovered a new world made for their size. The power to arrive home and say that they too, are Rototom, that they walk together with a festival whose heart has been beating for 25 years.
