Beyond the music, Rototom Sunsplash invites you to experience six days of culture, creativity and intergenerational coexistence in Benicasim with a program open to families, children, teenagers and audiences of all ages from August 17 to 22.

Swap stories from every corner of the world. Build musical instruments with recycled materials alongside a traveling family from the Colombian Amazon. Create a collective mural, get started in parkour, discover words to combat micro-racisms, learn modern Afro dance or be surprised by a night at the circus.

These are some of the experiences proposed by Rototom Sunsplash 2026 —from August 16 to 22— for those coming to Benicasim this summer looking for more than just concerts. The motto of this 31st edition is a true statement of intent: The Place to Be. Rototom as that place where you don’t just stay, but where you can be. Whoever you are, wherever you come from, and whatever your age. A place to team up and share experiences. With family, with friends. And with this purpose, the festival will once again become a place of coexistence where different generations find ways to enjoy their free time together. It will do so through its extra-musical cultural areas, with an infinite agenda of proposals that will support, alongside the music, twelve hours of uninterrupted daily activity.

Magicomundo: stories, creation and play for the whole family

The journey begins in Magicomundo, one of the cultural epicenters of daily life at the venue. The festival’s most family-oriented area arrives with new features such as the Cuentoteca, a new corner to read, exchange stories and nourish the collective imagination of Rototom. The proposal invites families to bring their own children’s books to be part of a unique story market where every tale finds new readers. Alongside this space, there will be areas for artistic creation, construction with natural materials, water games and free experimentation proposals that characterize the family area.

The daily program also includes shows such as Cuentos del Mundo para Ser y Soñar, the theatrical universe of Disparatario de Cuentos, with Ameba Teatre; workshops to create stories as a family with the company Al Otro Lado de la Parcela; a fun immersion into the history of ska and reggae with Josele Ska and the great closing family party with Payasospital and Glasford Family. The workshops led by Pájaros al Viento promise to be another of the week’s big attractions. This family from the Amazon and northern Colombia will share knowledge linked to music and nature through the construction of native flutes, bird callers, recycled instruments, body percussion or activities linked to the Rototom seed bank.

Teen Yard: sport, urban culture and awareness for teenagers

For the teenage audience, Teen Yard will once again deploy six days of sport, awareness and urban culture under the umbrella of an area that seeks to “generate spaces where young people can express themselves, create and relate based on shared interests,” the organization points out. Parkour returns with the Valencian collective R-Evolution School, while Zineb Social Basket will bring basketball as a tool for social inclusion and the Villarreal Foundation will organize different sessions with football as the focus. The program incorporates graffiti and collaborative mural workshops with Let’s Grow and Erol Urbà, breakdance sessions with professional exhibitions and a rap creation workshop by BlackUhuru Educación, accompanied by a proposal on anti-racist language promoted by Afrodiccionario.

The finishing touch will come with the international edition of Batalla de Promesas, which will bring together emerging young artists from all over Europe in a multicultural showcase of new voices and talents.

Jamkunda: African cultures and their diaspora

African cultures will project all their richness in Jamkunda. Its Ataya Social Café space will host literary presentations, workshops, gastronomic proposals and meetings promoted by Afro-descendant collectives from France and cities like Madrid, Barcelona and València during the afternoons, including United Souls, The Lab Oratory, Afrodiccionario or Top Manta, to bring different traditions and cultural expressions from the African continent and its diaspora closer. The experience will be completed with daily modern Afro dance workshops and live performances, such as those by the multifaceted Doudou Nganga or the young singer Suzete, which will explore sounds and traditions from Senegal, Congo or France.

Pachamama: well-being and a pause amidst the activity

The cultural agenda also passes through the Pachamama space, dedicated to well-being, body awareness and sustainability. Yoga, acroyoga, conscious dance and free movement sessions will provide those moments of pause amidst the intense festival-goer activity.

Mercado Artesano and Mercadillo: crafts, design and open workshops

The daily experience of the festival is also enhanced through spaces designed to be explored without schedules and to discover proposals spontaneously. Among them, the Mercado Artesano stands out, with a daily program of workshops open to different ages. From African percussion, collective painting or traditional games to the creation of musical instruments, decorative objects made with recycled materials, macramé, printing or craft work with copper, leather and wire.

For its part, the 42 stalls that make up the Mercadillo will act as another meeting point. In this edition, it proposes a journey through projects linked to signature crafts, independent design, fashion, well-being, illustration, photography, traditional trades and creations inspired by cultures from Africa, India or Latin America. There will be a presence of African tailors who make custom-made garments, artisans specialized in leather, natural cosmetic producers, creators of handmade jewelry and healthy food proposals.

From the Reggae Jamroom to the circus: evenings until dawn

Among this year’s novelties that extend leisure time and coexistence within the venue, the Reggae Jamroom emerges, a project that brings together veteran musicians and new talents in live improvisation sessions, generating a new meeting point where reggae is built from the dialogue between generations of artists.

And when the sun begins to set, one of the most anticipated events for the family audience will arrive. RototomCircus will raise the curtain every night on its particular universe of acrobatics, humor and emotion with six shows, for all ages, throughout the week.

The daily percussion parades throughout the venue will finish connecting stages, cultural areas and coexistence zones. An invitation to experience the festival without rushing, stay until dawn and discover that, at Rototom, between the beach and the concerts, there is room for a whole universe of shared experiences.
