On Sunday August 13 the Nigerian Seun Kuti will, together with his band Egypt 80, bring a special show to Main Stage called ‘Felabration’ in tribute to his father, the musciab and activist Fela Kuti. A day of worship dedicated to the creator of afrobeat, which will extend to another of the festival’s epicentres for the Celebrating Africa edition: the African Village. It does so with DJ Floro (República Afrobeat- Sonideros for Radio 3) on of the main specialists responsible for promoting the genre, and Kwame Afrovibes.
Therefore, before the ‘Felabration’ takes to Main Stage and to warm things up, the most African space at the festival will host a talk about ‘Women and activism in Africa’ with two representatives of the collective Afrobeat Project: Dj Floro and the journalist Sagrario Luna, author of the first biography of Fela Kuti in Spanish. The debate led by Luna will be accompanied by the musical touch of Floro. On the decks the veteran DJ will prolong the ‘Felabration’ with his afrobeat set to bring the night to a close in African Village.
On the other hand, on 16 August on the stage at African Village will welcome another of its main artists for this year’s edition: Elemotho from Namibia. Broadly recognised in France and Germany, he has just released his fourth album, Beautiful World, which he will present in Benicassim.
