They are small, barely weighing 8 grams, seemingly harmless and yet despite their short period of use, they suppose 4% of the world’s plastic waste that takes thousands of years to be broken down. We are talking about plastic straws, those colourful things that accompany many of our refreshments and drinks, and which the planet cannot absorb. For this reason and in keeping with our green commitment, we are going to substitute them this coming August for 380,000 bio straws. They are made with PLA, a bio plastic of organic origin that comes from corn starch, which is 100% compostable and biodegradable. Compared to their plastic competitors, they only take 60 days to breakdown it they are composted in a controlled manner. The difference is obvious.
With this green project, we become the first macro festival in Spain to use them. The first 380,000 units will be supplied by Huhtamaki Spain, franchise of the Finnish firm, with offices in Nules (Castellón), with them we will prevent the dumping of 300 kg of polypropylene on a planet that deserve s more respect.
