Sônia Bone Guajajara

Sônia Bone Guajajara is a Brazilian indigenous leader. She studied Arts and Nursing, she is a specialist in Special Education from the State University of Maranhão. Furthermore she is the executive coordinator of APIB – Articulação dos Povos Indígenas do Brasil. In 2015 Sônia received the Order of Cultural Merit.

On February 3, 2018, she became the first pre-candidate of indigenous origin to the presidency of the Brazilian republic. Sônia also has a voice in the UN Human Rights Council. She has brought complaints to the World Climate Conferences (COP) and the European Parliament.
