If you want to get to know the details and history of the Afro-Cuban dance, enjoy its scenography and even participate actively, the Papa Rumba Moviment’s Afro Cuba give you the perfect opportunity with their shows and workshops that they will present every day at the festival, from 14:00 to 15:00, at the entrance of African Village.
The collective will demonstrate through dance the roots of the Afro-Cuban culture, the culture of resistance of more than a million slaves who were shipped to the Caribbean island for Africa between 1523 and 1853, bringing with them the dances that they used to accompany their religious ceremonies.
All of these dances –after a process of transculturalization- have gone on to form a part of Cuban cultural heritage and an important source for music and dance on the island. From August 15 to 22 you will have the opportunity to enjoy Afro Cuban without having to leave the venue.
