Jamkunda is the village of the Baobabs, the roots of the souls that feed the earth with humanity. A space from which to conspire for the common good and join in the construction of a new humanity through music, cultural encounters and participatory activism.
Ataya will kick off the Jamkunda programme, where we will create a space for constructive reflection around the tea ceremony. It will be followed by dance, an occasion to enjoy and let yourself be carried away by the rhythm. The agenda is completed with different artistic proposals, under the coordination of the ‘artivist’ Mamadou Dia.
At night, we will give way to the Voodoo collective, turning the area into a dance club where to share an emotional and spiritual experience through music.
The Voodoo Children’s Club, The Voodoo Club, popularly known as “Vodoo” is a multi-dimensional art project spearheaded and curated by Wekaforé Jibril, fashion designer and musician. Awarded as the “Best Night Experience” in Barcelona by Time Out magazine, its Club format is responsible for promoting African music and avant-garde culture in Barcelona.
Its commitment to the African continent, cradle of humanity, aims to create a healthy representation of racialized people in Spain and thus facilitate a cultural change in a natural and respectful way. In addition, creating a safe space for women is a very important factor for Voodoo.
