Toni gives the finishing touches to his work under a blazing sun. Throughout the day, he will surely finish his work, a colourful mural that reflects his particular vision of a planet earth crossed by the symbol of peace in which everything fits, from flags to ice creams with legs to surreal characters, watermelon chunks and sharp phrases like “peace is the way”.
This artist from Alicante is one of the 15 emerging authors and young talents that shape this years open-air museum promoted by the Art Symposium, located in the premises of the festival, overlooking the Main Stage.
Artists from Madrid, Barcelona, Albacete and even Portugal. Different backgrounds and views to capture on canvas the particular way each author understands peace, the theme of the Rototom Sunplash 2015 (Peace R(evol)ution). “It is amazing to see how 15 people can create such different pieces on the same subject. It is a real mosaic of views,” the management of the Art Symposium explains.
A look at the works that make up this particular gallery, which after the festival will become part of the scenography of future editions, ratifies this diversity. A giant peace symbol built with the images of people’s faces of different colours, looks and origins share the area with two other murals that display the messages “No more war” and “Music for Peace”. And so on up to 15.
